And it worked quite well until the September update. But our group is part of a world wide organization that has chosen Zoom as their platform of choice. Good for him! We should all leave Zoom if they don't take care of their customers and make their user experience trouble free. I see that 1 person in this thread has abandoned Zoom for another videoconference provider. If a moderator sees this post, please pass it on to the Zoom technicians that create these problems. It's not our responsibility to search the internet for a solution to a problem that Zoom created. It is unacceptable that Zoom has not fixed this yet. I see there is 1 solution here that may work for some Windows users but is not working for everybody. I kept telling people, "hopefully it will be fixed in the next update." But here it is 5 months later and it's still not fixed. Some have parts in the meeting and their video can't be on because of this. We now have at least 4 participants experiencing this out of our group of around 60. It has steadily gotten worse over the last 5 months instead of better. Users who had no issues with their video suddenly started getting screen freezes, color shifting, static bands with other participants faces streaming above the band like a reader board, etc. It started with a September update and has continued to now, 5 months later. Zoom can deny it all they want, but the facts remain. I have not go around with exchanging the Apple SSD with my NVMe drive. So this issue is obviously a Zoom issue. I had to reinstall internally my original Apple SSD in order to upgrade to Monterey since the upgrade included an update to the Mac's firmware and Apple requires an Apple disk be installed for the firmware upgrade. Most of the time, its your device that creates disruptions in the normal functioning of your conference call. I am booting my 2013 Mac Pro via an NVME SSD connected via USB3. Some video freezing problems do not occur due to the Zoom app. An external SSD connected via USB-3 would be faster than current 7200 RPM drive. I do not know if you iMac can with a internal SSD connector since your model was offers with a Fusion Drive with was a 5400 RPM HDD and 10-20GB SSD. I recommend using an external SSD if you do not want to exchange the internal HDD with an SSD. There are others besides Time Machine.Īction: These are slow eve for a 7200 RPM HDD. Uninstall Total AV using the instructions provided by TotalAV.įinding: .plist (SS Protect Limited - installed )Īction: If this is different from Total AV uninstall this one too.Īction: You should have a backup. using the most updated version: 5.0.3įinding: Antivirus software: Apple and TotalAVĪction: Antivirus apps frequently cause problems and are not needed. Then I un-click the option in Video setting in Zoom and see what will happen next time. I found someone said there was something called HW Accelerated Video and that thing made the iMac freeze easily. However, all the people in the second situation were turned on their cams. I have no clue that why the iMac froze with even smaller number of people. The config is almost the same in both situations. It was a very strange experience for me because I have used Zoom for several months with a large number of people by using a paid account. But problem occurred when I used a non-privileged account (time limited in 40 mins) with a ppt file shared and with a Midi keyboard played at the same time in a 10-people meeting. Everything is ok with using so far when I used my privilege (paid) account in several over-30 people meetings.
